Minutes

  • Action item follow-up (0:05-0:4010)
    • Report additional ASWF wiki SSO issues to LF (Cory O.)
      • Issues have been reported to LF, no further updates on the support ticket at this time.
      • LF support has recommended viewing the SSO FAQ (linked below) for tips on getting unstuck if you experience SAML login errors.
    • Send email about WGUSD wiki to usd-interest (Cory O.)
      • Need to add some guidelines & expectations to the front page before announcing widely.
      • Should be able to do this in the next week or so, then send an announcement to usd-interest.
    • USD Superbuilds (Carson B.)
      • No update this week, busy with SIGGRAPH prep.
    • Jupyter notebook research progress (JT)
      • Created a new scratch Intro page with links to other research docs (linked below)
    Closing/Action Items (0:40-0:50
      • Great progress with integration of OpenVDB, OpenCUE and other projects in notebooks.
      • Discussed at TAC, agreeement that Jupyter notebooks are a good solution for interactive doc/examples to support the community.
      • CoryO: Is there a section that outlines how to use USD within a notebook? JT: Not yet, need to research.
  • WGUSD wiki content review (0:10-0:12)
    • CoryO: No major additions, some minor corrections made to the USD Projects and Resources page.
    • Question on the Tips & Tricks page asking whether there was a "punch list" of desired/needed articles.
      • Seems like both information that doesn't exist elsewhere and information that might be more difficult to find in its current location (e.g. on a studio or company website) would be fair game to add to the wiki, provided the author has the rights to contribute it.
      • CoryO: Can add content from the brainstorming doc (link below) to the wiki as a place to capture suggestions for new content.
  • Additional Topics (0:10-0:20)
    • GitHub branch naming (KimballT)
      • KimballT: Noticed that USD renamed the master branch to release, and added a dev branch. Is there a public thread on this? It would be good to implement this across other ASWF projects.
      • AlexS posted the announcement sent to usd-interest by the USD team.
      • CoryO: I haven't seen any additional detail on the procedure used to make this change.
      • KimballT intends to bring this topic up at a future TAC meeting.
    • Docker Images (NickP)
      • NickP: Does anyone here know whether there are any plans for providing wider platform support, e.g. Windows, for docker images that are produced for ASWF projects?
      • CoryO: Nobody on the call from the CIWG, might be a good idea to ask in the #wg-ci channel on the ASWF slack.
    • No further items for discussion identified, ending the session early for today.
  • Action Items:
    • Try to make the WGUSD landing page a bit more welcoming for new users then send out an announcement to usd-interest (Cory  O.)
    • Add content from the brainstorming google doc to the wiki (Cory O.)
