2.5 release retrospective

  • Possibly need to look into more in advance release candidates for next release

  • Carol thinks we should try to get features in earlier, and have space for a release candidate

  • Group thinks having the space for discussion at SIGGRAPH is really important

  • Possibly try for a month back, but realistically aim for two weeks

  • Kevin asks if we should move way earlier - like in May, do the release, and then discuss the release and plan the next at SIGGRAPH, instead of discussing the upcoming at siggraph

  • Keep discussing as we go forward

Interop IDs for Apple Log 2

  • ocio:applelog_awg_scene, ocio:linear_applewg_scene

    • Group chooses ocio:applelog_applewg_scene to avoid confusion with arri wide gamut

  • chromatic adaptation: Bradford

  • Carol will confirm adaptation etc

Updates to CIF white papers

  • Please review updates when you have time, all three have updates prior to the last CIF meeting

ACES LMTs

  • ACES 2 has much less contrast, resulting in a “less finished” out of the box rendering

  • The LMT to create a similar contrast to ACES 1 doesn’t quite work

  • what should the goals be?

  • Should the goal be to emulate ACES 1, or create more “finish” looks for ACES 2 separate from the constraints of ACES 1?

  • Something for the ACES TSC to chat about

  • Doug asks for more info on the contrast decisions - why is the contrast lower above mid grey compared to ACES 1 but not below? At the same time, ACES 2 is about as saturated (looking at color checker) which makes just adjusting contrast hard as it increases saturation an undesired amount

  • Scott - there are not right answers, decisions were made based on the feedback we got, and we’d like to work on tools to help users achieve what they’re after would be great

  • As we think about this, developing standardized, invertible, robust LMTs that are a core part of ACES, with naming conventions, etc, that can be implemented into OCIO

  • Also a discussion around middle grey, and placement for not TV/film workflows (gaming, web, etc)

Improvements to the GPU Action runner

  • Stay on AWS?, update image title, etc.

  • We should probably move, to be on the same infrastructure

  • Carol will make sure budget wise it will be ok with Larry and John

  • Remi - if we move we could test both linux and macOS

cmake find package
