    • What are you most proud of that we do as a group
      • Meeting restructuring - a big step forward in operations
      • Being able to scale...we have better scoped the work - we've done a lot 
      • Calendar/Plans - what we actually did is a better reflection to what we planned to do .. fitting to goals that we set to do 
      • Succession program (primary to secondary) 
        • Having alternates with governing board worked well. It's really healthy to have someone to step up 
      • SLP, SIGGRAPH, Dev Days
        • Win for DevDays 
    • Are there things that you would like us to invest more time in overall?
      • Reaching young audience - highschool? young kids?
      • Member education around D&I topics - this is the focus of D&I framework initiative
      • Need to learn about Dev Days to see how we can increase diversity - putting a focus on bringing this in 
      • How do we continue engagement in tech fields (extending SLP)
  • SLP, Summer Learning Program,  retro is most likely next month - feedback still being collected

Agenda:

  • Our mission recap - the three pillars
  • Dev Days recap - 2 day event  (LINK)  - overall, SUCCESS! 
    • Olga jumped in to help with Dev Days - thank you!
    • We are working on a survey and sending out thank you gifts and badges to participants. We don’t have survey data yet (coming soon) 
    • It was about getting people involved - one of the successes cuz it pushed others who were in the background to participate
    • There were 5 projects from Foundation 
    • We had more response than anticipated - 90 participants registered; 20 PRs merged and 11 PRs awaiting to be merged but almost all are merged. 
    • Trend: more senior engineers new to OSS were able to contribute 
    • Lesson: Build issues 
    • ACTION: For 2024, looking at when to do this and get more organization done too
    • ACTION: Looking for volunteers next year - let us know

SLP retro (Kaitlin)

    • We sent out Google form to request for feedback. We had low response - form was sent a little late
    • There was variability in how often mentors and students met this year 
    • We need to improve on structure, lack of insight into program (maybe a newsletter?), mismatch in mentor experience and mentee interest
    • Consistent feedback: Sense of community
    • Request for more collaboration opportunities
    • From committee: Speaker series was great (would like a lead for this)
    • Per Sean…Would like to do better at “guest mentor” 
    • Dev Days participation from some
    • ACTION: Signups will change and will need to use ASWF form

- 2024 Plans & Initiatives
  - Review Carol & Rachel's proposal

  • Potential action: Consider creating a more detailed and separate calendar for items like SIGGRAPH, Open Source Days and other conferences 
  • Dev Days: An initiative run from TAC and have D&I contribute

  - Chat through where Dev Days fits
  - Discuss group leadership plans

  • Rachel is volunteering to step back mid-year (second quarter) of 2024. We are asking the community to consider this role. This signals a new phase for this group. 

- 2023 Celebration and discussion
  - We'll spend the rest of the time talking through 2023, celebrating wins and planning improvements. If you are so inclined, bring a festive beverage to the call to cheers another year of our amazing group! (I'm leaning towards hot apple cider!!)

  • Seeing how SLP worked this year and the growth- super cool to see because it enabled us to do DevDays
  • DevDays was a great opportunity to learn, participate and contribute 
  • SIGGRAPH talk(s) were excellent 
  • SLP learner wrote about the experience - https://www.ninettemtan.com/...also some of SLP learners were student volunteers at SIGGRAPH
