  • What are you most proud of that we do as a group

    • Meeting restructuring - a big step forward in operations

    • Being able to scale...we have better scoped the work - we've done a lot

    • Calendar/Plans - what we actually did is a better reflection to what we planned to do .. fitting to goals that we set to do

    • Succession program (primary to secondary)

      • Having alternates with governing board worked well. It's really healthy to have someone to step up

    • SLP, SIGGRAPH, Dev Days

      • Win for DevDays

  • Are there things that you would like us to invest more time in overall?

    • Reaching young audience - highschool? young kids?

    • Member education around D&I topics - this is the focus of D&I framework initiative

    • Need to learn about Dev Days to see how we can increase diversity - putting a focus on bringing this in

    • How do we continue engagement in tech fields (extending SLP)

SLP, Summer Learning Program,  retro is most likely next month - feedback still being collected

Dev Days recap -

  • 2 day event  (LINK)  - overall, SUCCESS!

  • Olga jumped in to help with Dev Days - thank you!

  • We are working on a survey and sending out thank you gifts and badges to participants. We don’t have survey data yet (coming soon)

  • It was about getting people involved - one of the successes because it pushed others who were in the background to participate

  • There were 5 projects from Foundation

  • We had more response than anticipated - 90 participants registered; 20 PRs merged and 11 PRs awaiting to be merged but almost all are merged.

  • Trend: more senior engineers new to OSS were able to contribute

  • Lesson: Build issues

  • ACTION: For 2024, looking at when to do this and get more organization done too

  • ACTION: Looking for volunteers next year - let us know

SLP retro (Kaitlin)

  • We sent out Google form to request for feedback. We had low response - form was sent a little late

  • There was variability in how often mentors and students met this year

  • We need to improve on structure, lack of insight into program (maybe a newsletter?), mismatch in mentor experience and mentee interest

  • Consistent feedback: Sense of community

  • Request for more collaboration opportunities

  • From committee: Speaker series was great (would like a lead for this)

  • Per Sean…Would like to do better at “guest mentor”

  • Dev Days participation from some

  • ACTION: Signups will change and will need to use ASWF form
