Working Group 2023 Survey Results (Rachel + Carol)

  • Reiterate goals/mission statement and abbreviations as a start of each meeting

  • Reference to the mission statement being on the new Confluence page

  • Focus Areas for Working Group:

    • Increase ASWF Diversity and Representation

      • leadership/membership should reflect our diversity/inclusion values

      • Our impact has increased diversity/inclusion in Governing Board with the succession plan

    • External Outreach & Education

      • Specific goal to educate high school/college individuals to interface with open source in VFX/Animation

      • Our impact created the Summer Learning Program and Careers Webinar

    • Member Guidance

      • Guidance and resources for Foundation for education within ASWF

      • Our impact created blog posts and the landing page

  • 14 respondents: Meeting times are good with 57.1% of respondents, 28.6% said the time is not good

  • ~70% of respondents attend 4-11 meetings in 2022

  • Member respondents were asked about our pillars in the survey. Generally, respondents believe we are doing well with Increasing ASWF Diversity and Representation. External Outreach & Education is doing well, according to the respondents. Of the three, Member Guidance struggled but still generally in the middle of the road. 

Proposed Initiatives for 2023 (Carol + Rachel)

  • Recognizing that the National Science Fair needs some work and this is likely what contributed to it being at the bottom. 

  • “Beers of a Feather” and Open Source Diversity Framework has generally good feedback

    1. For 2023 the aim is to Scope it and do a discovery pass on what this would be in order to keep in manageable with a reach goal of contributing a few pillars within the Framework

    2. For 2023 also aim to publish a list of D&I resources – ASWF companies could learn from this to impact their company and benefit from a D&I impact
