OCIO TSC Meeting Notes
- Color Interop Forum Update
- Group has made progress on canonical color space names for rendering and texturing, analytical names seem to make the most members happy
- Now group needs to decide on the user-facing names. Should we swap "Texture" for "Scene-referred"Â
- Yes, just need to pay attention to name length for UX ease
- Doug is working on a draft document for the work on the CIF standard color spacesÂ
- ACES 2.0 Update
- Scott shared a spreadsheet with names of displays & associates user IDs as a draft
- Kevin: hopefully these will be analytically built and generated
- Thomas - will make things easier on the OCIO config side for sure
- Please comment on the ACES central post if you have feedback about naming
- Calling it g22 sRGB doesn't link up with the CIF names which would be rec709
- Kevin: sRGB is what it says in people's monitors so we might be stuck there
- Kevin: there's a couple of bug fixes going into a tag release candidate soon
- Remi: working on getting a shader version working. Initially doing it directly in GLSL vs OCIO to get accurate timing. Looking at 3x slower right now, which is better than on the CPU at 8x slower
- Might have to rely on LUTs for the precomputed tables due to their size - doesn't fit into a const, and might be different per GPU which would be hard to test / supportÂ
- Virtual Town Hall, SIGGRAPH etc
- Â Carol will put together a detailed schedule shortly for folks to reference with all the events and plans
- Please share this info with folks, especially those who might be in person at SIGGRAPH
