OCIO Config Working Group Meeting Notes

  • Issue #113: Addition of Adobe RGB and ProPhoto color spaces to the ACES configs

    • Kevin - RAW camera ingest is way more complicated than just the matrices in the configs - more info is needed. Latest LibRAW has AP0 out.

    • We need to be careful about "blessing" colorspaces - because its in the config it must be right and good and should be used

    • Where would we put these in the configs? Texture? Input? They don't really belong anywhere

    • Doug - if there is a specific proposal for a specific use case, we can do it. Without that, we're sort of digging for things to try and find the story.

    • More useful might be specific configs for specific use cases, applications, etc - i.e. a config for MaterialX, a config for photography.

    • And then making sure that the configs WG is a space for a forum around decisions that can be made with more context and input from the community

  • Versioning table update pending, defer to next meeting when hopefully Thomas can attend

  • Timing for this meeting

    • Keep it on tuesday - or move to mondays etc - will do a survey on Slack next week
